EIR Alternatives

The identification and evaluation of alternatives is an important component of the EIR process.  In addition to the applicant’s specific plan and a related variant, the community went through an extensive community-based process to identify a community-based plan.  A variant to the community-based plan has also been identified, which would include expansion of the Recology site.  Both the developer’s project and community based plan (and related variants) will be studied in the EIR at the same level of detail.  A renewable energy-based alternative has also been identified for study in the forthcoming EIR.  The EIR will also analyze a ‘no project” alternative as required pursuant to state law, and other alternatives will be identified as the EIR process moves forward.
