Emergency Preparedness Video

Printer-friendly version

Thank you to all who attended this past Tuesday's National Night Out with our Police, Fire, and OES departments!  We hope you were able to better connect not only with representatives from these departments, but your fellow neighbors, as well.  Off to the side of the main event, which took place at the picnic tables in the Community Park, was OES Director Randy Breault doing a Q&A with Skyler Hallgren of The Earthquake Bag.  Randy was answering community members' questions sent in about disaster preparedness as well as some questions that were posed during the Facebook Live event.  In case you missed it, here's their full interview:

The City and The Earthquake Bag are partnering to help ensure that every resident has the supplies they need for the next major earthquake.  Place your order before Aug. 20th and get $20 off using promo code: Brisbane20

Know that $5 from your order will be donated to Brisbane Disaster Prep + Relief Programs including CERT & The Lions Club.  Thank you, gentlemen, for helping our residents get better informed and ready for the next "big one"!

If you are interested in running for City Council this coming November, then you’ll want to be aware of the following information:

  • The election this year will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 and will be to elect three (3) City Council members.

Ord. 617 RE: Cannabis

Printer-friendly version

At last night's City Council meeting, the City Council voted 4-1 to introduce Ord. 617 as amended to allow cannabis-related businesses in some commercial districts in Brisbane.  These businesses include laboratory testing, warehousing, distribution, manufacturing, and delivery-only retail (walk-up retail establishments not allowed).  A Conditional Use Permit will be required for cannabis-related warehousing, distribution, manufacturing, and deliver-only retail, so the City can understand how the business works before a permit is issued.  Testing laboratories may require a Conditional Use Permit as well, depending on the districit they're located in within the city.

The Ordinance also establishes performance standards for the personal cultivation of medicinal and adult-use ("recreational") cannabis for personal consumption by eligible patients or adults 21 years or older on residential properties, consistent with State law requirements. No commercial cultivation of cannabis will be allowed in Brisbane.

The second reading of the ordinance is scheduled for the Council's September 7th meeting, with the ordinance taking effect in October (30 days after adoption). Businesses must wait until the ordinance is in effect to apply for a Conditional Use Permit.

Questions?  Contact the Community Development Department at (415) 508-2120 or email planning@ci.brisbane.ca.us.

Website Maintenance

Printer-friendly version

We want to apologize for the website being offline last weekend for one day and 14 hours.  We regularly add new pages to the website and during a period of re-indexing itself, the website went into maintenance mode and switched itself to "offline".  The City's current website is over 2,700 pages large, so city staff is in the process of removing older content such as a Day in the Park post from 2013 in order to take some load off of the website.  We are also improving the Search settings within the website and have added the ability to use Google's search mechanism if desired.  See below image:

Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and disruption for the City’s website being offline for a period of time last weekend.  We feel confident that the actions made over the weekend to bring the site back, plus on-going efforts to “de-clutter” the site will all help to ensure that this doesn’t happen again.
