Preparing for a Public Safety Power Shutoff

With PG&E's Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events this week affecting 30 counties in the state, many of us have been thinking about what we'd do and how best to prepare in the event our power is shut off.  As posted by our friends at KQED, we found this to be useful and wanted to share with the community:

Oct. 10 Kings Fire in Brisbane

Thankfully, yesterday's wind conditions were extremely mild at no more than 10 mph when a fire broke out in the Brisbane Acres area of San Bruno Mountain just after 11am.  As we watch the headlines coming out of Southern California, strong Santa Ana winds have resulted in a much different result after a fire broke out last night in Sylmar, the northernmost neighborhood of Los Angeles, which at the time of this posting, has burned 7.3 sq. miles and is 0% contained.

Oct. 9 & 10 Large Scale Wind Event

We received a call last night from PG&E indicating that due to a forecast windstorm affecting San Mateo County on Weds. Oct. 9 and Thurs. Oct. 10, an estimated 10,000 PG&E customers will have their power shut off.
