Learn about what to expect from the hiring process. Apply for jobs online through CalOpps with the City of Brisbane.

  • We advise you to read through the job descriptions carefully for each open position.
  • Applicants should upload all necessary application materials by the last filing date specified in the job advertisement.
  • Applications received by mail, fax, or email will not be accepted; only online submissions through CalOpps will be considered.

What To Expect 

  • After the job posting’s closing date, HR personnel will review your application to ensure you meet the minimum qualifications described in the job posting. If you do, you will be invited to a panel interview or skills assessment.

  • Questions and duration of panel interviews are dependent on the applicant's position. You may also be asked for a second interview, testing, written exam, or practical assessments. 

  • Candidates that pass the panel interview process are placed on an eligibility list

    • This list is valid for 12 months unless extended 

  • The time from when the position closes to the final hiring decision may vary.

  • After the interviews, the hiring department(s) will extend an offer to the selected candidate, and all other candidates will be notified. 
  • Candidate receives conditional offer letter, highlighting pre-employment steps.
  • Once pre-employment steps are completed and the live scan is cleared, the candidate will receive an appointment letter and schedule a New Hire Orientation.
