PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
All uses in the SP-CRO shall be conducted in accordance with the following (summarized) performance standards (refer to BMC §17.18.045 for full list):
- All research and development (R&D) uses shall submit to the planning department a risk analysis performed by a qualified professional specifying all hazardous or biologic materials to be utilized and methods of safe handling and disposal prior to building permit issuance.
- R&D involving the use of live animals shall be conducted in compliance with the Institute of Laboratory Animals Resources' Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, and in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, and such other conditions as may be imposed by the city.
- R&D uses involving the use of biological agents shall comply with all design standards set forth in the most current Center for Disease Control Office of Health and Safety document "Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories."
- Lighting shall be designed to avoid excessive glare as viewed from offsite locations, in compliance with the California Green Building Standards Code.
PARKING
All uses in the SP-CRO shall comply with the parking regulations set forth in BMC Chapter 17.34.
SIGNS
All advertising signs in the SP-CRO shall comply with the sign regulations set forth in BMC Chapter 17.36.
